Start by sending me a message via email or text telling about how wonderful your pet is and why you love them. Alternatively, you can give me an old fashioned telephone call.

I will get back to you soon and we can chat about creating a beautiful treasured keep sake of your furry pal. Then we can begin the process of planning your portrait.
You can send me all your best photos. The more photos, the more choice we have to create a great portrait. Remember to send photos that are in focus. It’s easy to check if the photo is usable. Just enlarge it on your phone or tablet, and if there are no blurry bits, we should be right.
I will recommend which photos and compositions would work the best and the optimal size.
The smaller sizes are suitable for close ups and head shots.
Additional pets and landscape backgrounds are only available in larger formats.
Portraits are painted on a first booked, first painted basis. During our initial planning sessions, I will give you an estimate of when I can have your portrait ready. I will have the painting ready to post in 2-3 weeks from the time I start painting (acrylic painting). Allow an additional 2-3 weeks for an oil painting, due to its longer drying time.
If you require your portrait by a certain date, let me know and I’ll do my very best to accommodate.
Once you are happy and ready to go ahead, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your portrait. Payments can be made via direct transfer or credit card.
We will discuss postage options and I will give you a costing of postage. This will be payable with the final payment.
When it’s almost finished, I’ll send you some progress shots for you to approve. Minor adjustments are available at this time – after all, it’s your portrait and I want you to absolutely love it!
I wrap my completed portraits in bubble wrap and solid cardboard ready for transport. I usually use Australia post, courier services are available. Paintings usually arrive in 3-5 days within Australia.
Use your best camera. Most smart phones these days are great for capturing details.
Take your time and relax. Animals pick up on our moods, and you want him looking his best.
Go outside. Natural lighting is best. Avoid bright sun/shadows. Dawn and dusk gives you the best light.
Get down to your pets level or lower. You’ll get a better shot than shooting them from above.
If you can see the details clearly when you enlarge on your phone, the I’ll be able to see them too!
Here are some of my reference photos
Acrylics – because they are water based, they dry very quickly, which means you can receive your portrait sooner. Once I start work on your portrait, an acrylic painting can be ready to post in 1 – 2 weeks. I use artists quality acrylic paints which give beautiful long lasting colours. They are coated with an acrylic gloss or matt varnish, which makes them lush and gives them long lasting protection.
Oils – because of the slower drying time, it takes much longer for a painting in oils to be dry enough for transport – allow an extra 2 – 3 weeks. I use acrylics to paint the under painting, and finish off with oils for the tops layers. This speeds up the process and generally doesn’t take any longer for me to paint. If you prefer the lush look of an oil painting and are not in a hurry, then oils are a good choice for you.
I paint on triple primed 380gsm cotton primed canvas stretched on a 3.8cm profile. (Wide edges) These edges are masked off during painting so the sides remain crisp and white and look fab without a frame, but if you prefer, I can paint the edges the same colour as the background.
All materials are archival quality and will give you many years of delight.
